In short

Beverly Hills collects bulky items free from an alley, and charges $91.86 for a curb or parkway pickup, limited to two or three items per request with a 24 to 72 business hour turnaround. The critical detail is the exclusion list: the city will not take mattresses, tires, e-waste, or appliances containing refrigerant. Those four are the most common items people need removed, which is why almost every Beverly Hills household job ends up with a private hauler. We take all of them, at one flat volume-based price.

Read the exclusion list before you plan anything in Beverly Hills. No mattresses. No tires. No electronics. No refrigerators or AC units with refrigerant still in them โ€” the city accepts those only if the freon has already been removed. Between them that covers most of what a household actually needs hauled.

What the city does do well is alley collection, which is free, for two or three ordinary items. Use it for that. Call us for everything on the refusal list, for estate and property clear-outs, for anything above Sunset where access is the whole problem, and for anything that needs discretion. See how our pricing works.

The free option first

Free from the alley,
charged from the curb.

Beverly Hills runs its own bulky item pickup with an unusual structure. Collection from an alley is free. Collection from the curb or parkway costs $91.86. Either way the limit is two to three items per request, and the turnaround is 24 to 72 business hours, which is genuinely fast by regional standards.

The exclusions are what matter. Mattresses are not accepted. Tires are not accepted. Electronic waste is not accepted. Refrigerators and air conditioning units are accepted only without refrigerant, meaning the freon has to be professionally removed first. Add the two-to-three item cap and the program is essentially for a few pieces of ordinary furniture from an alley.

For a house above Sunset there is often no alley at all, so the curb charge applies and the curb may be a long way from the house. For an estate clear-out, a remodel, a mattress, a TV or a fridge, the program simply does not apply.

On the ground

Alleys in the flats,
gates above Sunset.

The flats between Santa Monica and Wilshire are laid out on a generous grid with service alleys behind most blocks. That is why the city's free alley collection exists and why it works there. For us it means a truck can get close, the carry is short, and a job moves quickly.

Above Sunset the geometry changes completely. Long private driveways, gates and intercoms, motor courts that a large truck cannot turn in, houses set well back, and hillside roads north of Benedict and Coldwater with no shoulder. We choose a vehicle that fits the drive rather than the load, and we shuttle when we have to. Staff entrances, service routes and floor protection are normal requirements and we work to them.

Discretion is part of the job here. Unmarked staging where asked, no photographs, crews who work quietly and leave the site clean. On estate work we sort with the family or the executor rather than making decisions for them, and we will hold items back for an appraiser. See estate cleanouts.

Where it goes

The disposal chain
for a Beverly Hills load.

Donation first, and Beverly Hills loads are the highest-value we handle, so placing good furniture, art and household goods properly matters. Mattresses go into California's state-funded mattress recycling program โ€” the city will not touch them, but the state program exists and LA County has close to twenty permanent no-cost collection centers. Refrigerant appliances are handled as universal waste with the refrigerant recovered by the proper route, which is precisely the step the city requires and does not perform. Electronics go to a certified handler. Household hazardous material goes to a S.A.F.E. Collection Center, and the nearest are UCLA in Westwood, open Fridays, Saturdays and the first Sunday monthly, and the LA-Glendale center on Colorado Boulevard, which is Saturday only and requires a state photo ID at the security gate. Both are free and capped at 125 pounds or 15 gallons per visit. Construction debris goes to a certified mixed C&D processor.

Beverly Hills
questions

The refusal list is what people call about.

Will Beverly Hills take my mattress?

No. Mattresses are specifically excluded from the Beverly Hills bulky item program, along with tires, e-waste and appliances containing refrigerant. We take mattresses and recycle them through California's state-funded program. See mattress removal.

How much does Beverly Hills charge for bulky pickup?

Alley pickup is free. Curb or parkway pickup is $91.86. Either way it is limited to two or three items per request with a 24 to 72 business hour turnaround, and the exclusion list still applies.

Can Beverly Hills take my old refrigerator?

Only if the refrigerant has already been professionally removed. That is regulated work, not a homeowner job. We remove refrigerant appliances and handle them as universal waste with proper recovery. See appliance removal.

Do you handle estate clear-outs discreetly in Beverly Hills?

Yes. Unmarked staging where requested, no photographs, quiet crews, floor and stair protection, and we hold items back for an appraiser or executor rather than deciding for you. See estate cleanouts.

Can you access a property above Sunset with a narrow drive?

Yes. We size the vehicle to the driveway rather than the load, and shuttle if the motor court cannot take a large truck. We work that out before quoting so the number does not change.
