Working with Hunter and this company was great. Gave us a quick quote over the phone after sending photos and was able to help us the SAME day. Removal was fast and easy. We definitely recommend going with this company.
Escrow deadlines, tenant turnovers, listing photographs, a unit that has to be empty by Friday. We work backwards from what is actually open today and tell you honestly what can finish.

Same-day junk removal in Pasadena is always a private haul. The two free city pickups a year are requested about two weeks ahead, refrigerators and air conditioning units are refused outright, and remodel debris needs an approved Municipal Code 8.62 application before anything is hauled. Access, material and destination hours decide today.
Nothing free in Pasadena happens today. The city's bulky item pick-up gives city refuse customers two free collections a year, but it is requested about two weeks ahead on (626) 744-7311 or the Citizen Service Center app with an itemized list, collected from the parkway only because staff cannot enter private property, set out by 7 a.m. on the collection day and no more than 24 hours early, by crews working 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday to Friday. Refrigerators and air conditioning units are refused outright. Pasadena also has no permanent household hazardous waste facility, so paint and solvents wait for a Saturday. And remodel debris is stricter still: under Pasadena Municipal Code Chapter 8.62, a construction and demolition application has to be approved before any debris is hauled, and covered projects must divert at least 75% of their waste. A same-day clearance here is therefore always a private haul, and what decides whether it finishes today is access, material and destination hours. Los Angeles Junk Removal & Hauling quotes it free upfront and says plainly when part of a load has to route another day.
Same-day calls in Pasadena arrive with somebody else's clock attached. An escrow with a broom-clean condition. A listing shoot at nine. A tenant handing back keys at noon. An executor flying home on Sunday. A contractor who needs a garage empty before framing starts on Monday. In every one of those the real question is not whether a crew can come today, it is whether the material can be off the property and legally disposed of today — and in this city those are two genuinely different questions.
So this page is about the clock and the paperwork: what is scheduled rather than open, what cannot legally move until an application is approved, and which parts of Pasadena are slow no matter how early we start. The wider local picture is on junk removal in Pasadena, and how we price by volume with no obligation is on how our pricing works.
Times published by the City of Pasadena and LA Sanitation and cited in full below. The clock is the destination, not the truck.
Start with the free route, because it is a perfectly good service and it simply cannot rescue a deadline. City refuse customers get two bulky item pickups per calendar year. Requests go through (626) 744-7311 or the Citizen Service Center app roughly two weeks in advance, and the city asks for an itemized list so a correctly sized vehicle is dispatched. Crews work 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday to Friday, and not on holidays. If your deadline is a fortnight out rather than this afternoon, book it, and we will tell you that on the phone rather than sell against it.
Every condition attached to it is a scheduling condition. Items are collected from the parkway, the strip between the sidewalk and the street, and city staff cannot enter private property, so nothing is taken from a driveway, a porch, a rear garage or behind a gate. Set-out is by 7 a.m. on the collection day and no more than 24 hours early, and material put out too soon can draw a Code Enforcement citation. Refrigerators and air conditioning units are not accepted at all. The volume cap is about three cubic yards, roughly a bin four feet by five feet by four feet, and the weight test is nothing heavier than two people can lift. Seasonally, the city has suspended bulky collection around the Rose Parade period — the most recent suspension ran from 19 December 2025 to 2 February 2026 — so if you are clearing over new year, confirm the current dates before relying on it.
Then there is the rule that catches contractors and flippers rather than households, and it is the strongest reason a Pasadena job cannot always finish today. Under the Construction and Demolition Waste Management Ordinance, Pasadena Municipal Code Chapter 8.62, effective 1 April 2014, certain construction and demolition projects must divert at least 75% of their waste through recycling, salvage or deconstruction. The city states that the construction and demolition application must be approved prior to hauling any C&D debris, and that failing to submit that application for approval, or failing to comply with any provision of the ordinance, may result in forfeiture of the performance security deposit. That is a genuine same-day blocker: if your load is bathroom tile and studwork from a permitted job and the paperwork is not approved yet, the paperwork comes first.
Behind all of it sits Pasadena's own franchise system. Under Municipal Code Chapter 8.61 the city grants non-exclusive solid waste collection franchises to haul, transport, dispose of and recycle solid waste within Pasadena, and the City Council has closed that system to new franchisees. The published master agreement sets hard diversion rates on the companies inside it: a minimum 75% recycling diversion rate for construction and demolition debris and 60% for other solid waste, measured monthly and annually, with third-party diversion tonnage capped at 25% of the total reported and liquidated damages payable for missing the numbers. Pasadena is a city that counts what leaves it, which is worth knowing when somebody offers to make your pile disappear cheaply and quickly.

The thing that decides a same-day job here is almost never the volume. It is the distance between where the material is standing and where a truck can legally stop, and Pasadena has four distinct versions of that.
The first is the Craftsman bungalow belt, the deep grid of 1900s and 1920s houses running through the Bungalow Heaven area and out across the older east and northwest neighborhoods. Those lots were laid out with a long single-width driveway running past the house to a detached garage at the back. The distance from a rear garage to a truck is not twenty feet, it is well over a hundred, past a side gate, and a driveway that narrow will not let a full-size truck turn or pass a parked car. That is not difficult work, it is just time, and it is the single most common reason a Pasadena same-day quote differs from an identical-looking job on a wide suburban street.
The second is the hillside. Linda Vista, the San Rafael hills and the streets climbing toward the mountains on the north edge have gradient, tight turns, narrow lanes and limited legal parking, with private drives steeper than a loaded dolly enjoys. The right vehicle there is often a smaller one making two runs rather than a large one that cannot get back out. We size the truck to the street when you describe it, not when the crew is looking up it.
The third is the apartment stock along the freeway corridors and in the older courtyard blocks. There the job is a building job: a service entrance, an elevator, a manager who wants a certificate of insurance on file before anyone crosses the lobby, and a window that does not collide with another tenant's move. A same-day request into a managed building is really a request to find a free window, and the earlier in the day you call, the better the odds. Remember too that the city's free bulky route does not serve buildings of five or more units at all, so for a lot of Pasadena renters there is no municipal fallback to compare us against.
The fourth is the event calendar, which is a Pasadena problem in a way it is not anywhere else we work. When the Rose Bowl has a major event the city closes streets and posts temporary no-parking restrictions to support it. For the FIFA Club World Cup matches in June 2025, for instance, the city closed Holly Street between Raymond Avenue and Arroyo Parkway across six separate dates, with no on-street parking permitted during closure hours and temporary tow-away signs posted and strictly enforced. Add the Rose Parade and Rose Bowl Game at new year, when the parade route is shut down the night before, and there are days when the honest answer to a downtown or Arroyo-side same-day request is first thing tomorrow. Tell us the address and the date when you call and we will check it against what is on rather than discovering it at a barricade. If the job is really a whole-property clear, see estate cleanouts in Pasadena; if it is the chemical end of a garage, see garage cleanouts in Pasadena.

Our own crews on Los Angeles County jobs. The same-day junk removal we run in Pasadena looks like this too: side yards, narrow walkways and the back of the property is where the work actually is.
A same-day Pasadena clearance is usually two loads pretending to be one. The first is ordinary bulk: furniture, mattresses and box springs, boxes, clothing, garden material, general household. That can be sorted, loaded and routed today, with sound items pulled for donation before the tailgate shuts and metal sent to a scrap recycler rather than a disposal gate. Most of what comes out of a bungalow or an apartment turnover is in this half.
The second is the part that is not ordinary trash and does not become ordinary trash because you have a deadline. Household hazardous waste has no permanent home in this city — Pasadena has no facility of its own — so the free routes are the City of Los Angeles S.A.F.E. collection centers, which are open to Los Angeles County residents as well as city ones, and the county's periodic roundup events. The nearest permanent center is LA-Glendale at 4600 Colorado Boulevard: Saturday only, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and because it sits inside a water reclamation plant a state-issued photo ID is required at the security gate. The Gaffey Street center in San Pedro runs Saturdays and Sundays 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and the Washington Boulevard center is currently listed as temporarily closed. The transport limit is 125 pounds or 15 gallons per visit. Paint, thinners, solvents, automotive fluids, pool and garden chemicals, aerosols, propane cylinders, sharps and medications all live in that category, and none of them have a Wednesday afternoon option.
Electronics are a state matter rather than a city one. Televisions, monitors, computers, printers, microwaves, cell phones and household batteries are universal waste in California and have been banned from household trash since the state's exemption ended on 9 February 2006. They come off the load separately and go to a certified handler, which we can do on the same visit.
Appliances are the third case, and Pasadena is the reason they are worth calling out. The city's bulky route refuses refrigerators and air conditioning units outright, so there is no free route to compare against at any notice period. Anything with a sealed refrigeration circuit also needs that circuit recovered by someone equipped for it before the shell can be processed as scrap. We will take those the same visit, but they travel their own way and we say so rather than mixing them into a general load.
Mattresses are the easy one and worth mentioning because people assume the opposite. California's stewardship program, run by the Mattress Recycling Council under CalRecycle oversight, is funded by a recycling fee collected at the point of sale — moving from $16.00 to $18.00 per unit for sales on or after April 1, 2026, charged per unit whatever the size — so qualifying used mattresses and foundations are accepted at participating drop-off points at no additional cost, at more than 3,500 locations statewide. A bed does not need to be the expensive part of a deadline. What the program does not cover is sofa beds, futon frames, bed frames, toppers and pads, pillows and crib mattresses, and we will tell you which of those you actually have while quoting.
And then there is the remodel fraction, which is the one genuinely unmovable item on a Pasadena same-day list. If the load is construction and demolition debris from a covered project, the city's own requirement is that the application is approved before the debris is hauled, with at least 75% diversion and a performance security deposit riding on compliance. That is not a preference we can work around at four in the afternoon. We will separate it, tell you plainly what has crossed that line, take everything that can legally go now, and come back for the rest.

Same rule in Pasadena as anywhere else in Los Angeles County. The local part is the program above, not the disposal law. Full detail on same-day junk removal.
This page is same-day junk removal in Pasadena specifically. The wider service is on same-day junk removal across Los Angeles, and everything we haul in this city is on junk removal in Pasadena. Same crew, different job: Appliance removal in Pasadena, Furniture removal in Pasadena, Estate cleanouts in Pasadena, Garage cleanouts in Pasadena. Pricing works the same way everywhere: how our pricing works, and the full map is on areas we serve.

We are already next door most days. The whole list is on areas we serve.
Same crew, same visit, one quoted number agreed before anything is lifted.
Couches, sectionals, mattresses in the same trip, beds, desks and wardrobes carried down rather than dragged.
Fridges, washers and AC units. Refrigerant units are handled as universal waste.
The whole garage in one visit. We sort, donate what is usable and sweep the slab.
A full property cleared with care, on probate or move-out timelines.
Recycled through a state-funded program, not dumped. Box springs and futons too.
Drywall, lumber, tile and concrete, hauled to a certified C&D processor.
Deadlines, what the city cannot do today, and what has to wait for an approval or a Saturday.
No. The free bulky item pick-up is requested about two weeks ahead on (626) 744-7311 or through the Citizen Service Center app, with an itemized list, and crews work 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday to Friday. Items go on the parkway by 7 a.m. on the collection day and no more than 24 hours early, and putting them out sooner can draw a Code Enforcement citation. If your deadline allows two weeks, book it and use it. If it does not, a private haul is the only route that finishes today.
It depends on the material and the access, not the hour on its own. Loads that are mostly furniture, metal or yard material have different destinations and different windows from a heavy mixed load, and managed buildings with a service elevator are the tightest constraint of all. Call, describe what is there and where it is standing, and we will tell you honestly whether today is realistic or whether first thing tomorrow is the better booking.
Probably not, and it is a legal point rather than a scheduling one. Pasadena's Construction and Demolition Waste Management Ordinance requires the construction and demolition application to be approved before any debris is hauled, and covered projects must divert at least 75% of their waste through recycling, salvage or deconstruction, with a performance security deposit at risk. If your application is already approved we can work to it. If it is not, that comes first, and we will say so rather than move the material.
Because Pasadena has no permanent household hazardous waste facility and the alternatives are weekend-only. The nearest S.A.F.E. center is LA-Glendale at 4600 Colorado Boulevard, Saturdays only, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., with a state photo ID needed at the security gate because it sits inside a water reclamation plant, and there is a 125 pound or 15 gallon limit per visit. We separate that material at your property, take everything that can legally move today and tell you exactly what is going where.
Sometimes it decides the day. When the Rose Bowl has a major event the city closes streets and posts temporary tow-away no-parking restrictions — for the FIFA Club World Cup matches in June 2025 it closed Holly Street between Raymond Avenue and Arroyo Parkway across six dates — and the Rose Parade shuts its route down the night before. Give us the address and the date when you call and we will check it rather than send a truck into a barricade.
Our pricing works the same way whatever day you book: by the volume the load actually takes up in the truck, with labor, transport and disposal included, quoted upfront and confirmed on site before anything moves. There is no urgency surcharge. What genuinely changes a Pasadena number is the carry — a long single-width rear drive, a hillside street, a service elevator — and whether the load has to split across more than one destination. We point both out while quoting.
