El Segundo residents in single-family homes and duplexes get four free bulky item pickups per year through EDCO, the city's franchise hauler, with a limit of six items each and two days' notice required at (310) 540-2977. Tires, dirt, concrete, asphalt and chemicals are excluded. Los Angeles Junk Removal & Hauling covers what EDCO won't: indoor removal, garages, whole-property clear-outs, remodel debris and same-day jobs, at one flat volume-based price.
El Segundo is a small city with an unusually good free program, so we tell people to use it when it fits. Four visits a year at six items apiece handles most household turnover if you can get the items to the curb and you are not in a rush.
What it does not handle is the rest: a garage stacked to the door, a rental cleared between tenants, a hot tub on a small back patio, or debris from a kitchen remodel. Nor does it handle anything for the city's large commercial and aerospace employer base, which is a different waste stream entirely. See how our pricing works.
El Segundo contracts its residential collection to EDCO rather than running its own crews. The bulky program gives single-family and duplex addresses four free pickups per calendar year, up to six items on each visit, scheduled at (310) 540-2977 with two days' notice. That is more generous than most of the region, and if you are inside those limits you should not be paying anybody.
The exclusions are the useful part to know. Tires are not accepted. Neither is dirt, concrete or asphalt, so anything from a hardscape job or a demolition is out. Chemicals, paint and solvents are out. And as with every municipal program in the county, it is curbside collection: the crew will not come inside, up a stair, or into a garage. Multi-family buildings above a duplex are outside the residential program and handled through their own arrangement.

Residential El Segundo is compact: modest lots, single-car garages built for 1940s cars, narrow driveways and rear alleys on many blocks. That geometry means garages here fill fast and empty slowly, and a full garage cleanout often has to be worked out through a door barely wider than a fridge.
The other half of El Segundo is commercial: aerospace, studios, offices and light industrial west of Sepulveda and north toward LAX. Those jobs are a different animal. They need a certificate of insurance, they run after hours or at a dock, and they generate office furniture, server gear, pallets and fixtures rather than household goods. We do both and we schedule around the building's rules.
El Segundo's streets are also genuinely quiet and its residents notice a truck idling. We work in and out rather than parking up for the afternoon.

Our own crews on Los Angeles County jobs. The junk removal we run in El Segundo looks like this too: side yards, narrow walkways and the back of the property is where the work actually is.
Usable furniture and office goods go to donation or resale first. Scrap metal is recycled, which matters here because so much of what comes out of El Segundo garages and shops is metal. Mattresses go into California's state-funded recycling program rather than a landfill. Electronics are universal waste in California and go to a certified handler. Household hazardous material goes to a S.A.F.E. Collection Center, with the Hyperion center at 7660 W Imperial Hwy Gate B in Playa del Rey the nearest, minutes north, weekends 9 to 3, free to LA County residents, subject to a 125-pound or 15-gallon per-visit state limit. Construction debris goes to a certified mixed C&D processor; California Waste Services in Gardena is one of the closest to El Segundo and runs an audited 82.13% mixed-C&D recycling rate.

We are on these streets constantly because we are already next door: Manhattan Beach, Hawthorne, Playa del Rey, Inglewood, Hermosa Beach, Westchester. If your job straddles two of them it is still one visit and one number. The full list is on areas we serve.

We are a service-area business with no yard or storefront, so there is nothing to drive to — the truck comes to you. The whole list is on areas we serve.
Single-car garages, office fit-outs and rental turnovers.
The whole garage in one visit. We sort, donate what is usable and sweep the slab.
Couches, sectionals, mattresses in the same trip, beds, desks and wardrobes carried down rather than dragged.
COIs, after-hours dock slots and property-manager invoicing.
TVs, CRT monitors and computers. Banned from the trash in California.
Fridges, washers and AC units. Refrigerant units are handled as universal waste.

No. Tires are specifically excluded from the El Segundo bulky program. There is also a California Tire Fee of $1.75 per new tire funding the recycling system, and anyone transporting ten or more waste tires must be a CalRecycle-registered waste tire hauler. We handle tires within those rules.
Yes, that is a large part of our work here. We carry insurance, can provide a certificate of insurance to building management, and work after-hours or dock slots. See commercial junk removal.
Yes. It is excluded from the city program, and mixed C&D has to go to a certified processing facility rather than a landfill. See construction debris removal.
