Working with Hunter and this company was great. Gave us a quick quote over the phone after sending photos and was able to help us the SAME day. Removal was fast and easy. We definitely recommend going with this company.
We work backwards from the disposal gate hours to tell you honestly whether your job can finish today, then clear it — the deep lots south of Ventura Boulevard to the hillside streets under Mulholland. Free upfront quote before anything is lifted.

Whether an Encino load clears today depends on gate hours rather than truck availability. Sunshine Canyon Landfill in Sylmar stops weighing at 5 p.m. on weekdays and 11 a.m. on Saturday, and S.A.F.E. centers open weekends only. Jobs are booked backwards from those closing times, quoted free upfront.
Encino is inside the City of Los Angeles, so the free bulky item collection run by LA Sanitation is never a same-day option: it is requested at least one business day ahead and then collected on your normal collection day, at the curb. A same-day clearance in Encino is a private haul, and what governs whether it can finish today is not the truck but the receiving gates. Sunshine Canyon Landfill in Sylmar, the nearest large disposal point to the Valley, closes its scales at 5:00 p.m. on weekdays and 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The S.A.F.E. collection centers that take paint, pool chemicals and e-waste are open weekends only. Los Angeles Junk Removal & Hauling works backwards from those closing times, quotes the job upfront and free, and tells you honestly if part of the load has to route on a different day.
Almost every same-day call in Encino has a hard reason behind it. A close of escrow with a broom-clean condition. Listing photographs booked for the morning. A tenant handing back keys. A red flag forecast and a hillside frontage still stacked with cut brush. A dumpster that was supposed to arrive and did not. In all of those the question is not really whether somebody can come today, it is whether the material can actually be off the property and legally disposed of today.
That is a different question, and it has a real answer with real times in it. This page is about the clock: what closes when, what cannot ride in the same load, and which parts of an Encino property are slow to clear regardless of how early we start. The wider picture of what the city program does and does not cover is on junk removal in Encino, and how we price by volume with no obligation is on how our pricing works.
Times published by Sunshine Canyon Landfill and LA Sanitation and cited in full below. The clock is the scalehouse, not the truck.
Start with the free route, because it is worth knowing exactly why it cannot help you today. LA Sanitation describes bulky item collection as an unlimited curbside service at no additional charge, available to single-family Encino addresses with no annual cap. It is booked through the online service request form, the MyLA311 app or the 24-hour Customer Care Center on 1-800-773-2489, and LASAN asks for an itemised list so that a correctly sized truck is dispatched. Then it is collected on your regular trash day, with the request made at least one business day in advance. There is no mechanism in that program for today, and there is no mechanism in it for anything that is not standing on the parkway when the truck arrives.
The private route has its own clock, and it is set at the receiving end. Sunshine Canyon Landfill on San Fernando Road in Sylmar is the closest large gate to Encino, and it publishes its hours plainly: scales close at 5:00 p.m. on weekdays and at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. It also publishes a one-ton minimum on all materials, an environmental fee of $19.71 per load, and a $175 penalty for an untarped load. Read that as an operational deadline rather than a price list. A truck that leaves an Encino driveway at 4:20 p.m. loaded is not a truck that has finished the job; it is a truck deciding whether it can make the Sylmar scale before it shuts.
The weekend gates are stricter still. The S.A.F.E. collection centers — Solvents, Automotive, Flammables, Electronics — are the free, legal destination for the paint, pool chemicals, solvents, batteries, fluorescent tubes and electronics that come out of an Encino garage, and they are open Saturday and Sunday only, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., with a hard state limit of 125 pounds or 15 gallons per visit. The nearest one to Encino is the Nicole Bernson center at 10241 North Balboa Boulevard in Northridge, which does not accept business waste at all. LASAN also runs free monthly Saturday drop-off events from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and the Valley site is 8840 Vanalden Avenue in Northridge. None of that is available on a Tuesday afternoon, which is precisely why a same-day job is planned around it instead of into it.

Two properties can hold the same volume of material and take completely different amounts of time in Encino, and the difference is almost always the distance between where the material is and where a truck can legally stand. South of Ventura Boulevard the lots run deep, the drives gate, and the working parts of the property — the workshop, the pool equipment run, the guest house, the far end of the yard — are a long way from the parkway. That distance is the job. A same-day booking that assumes a tailgate-to-curb transfer will not survive contact with a hundred-foot carry through a side gate barely wider than a wheelbarrow, and it is the reason we ask on the phone how far it is and what the narrowest point is, rather than how many items there are.
North of the boulevard the geometry changes and so does the clock. Post-war ranch stock on a tighter grid, apartment blocks along Balboa and White Oak, permit-parked streets, and turnovers that have to fit around a tenant's move-out. There the constraint is usually where the truck can sit without blocking a driveway or a bin day, and whether the building has a manager who needs a certificate of insurance before anyone touches the elevator.
Then there is the constraint that only applies to hillside Encino, and it is the one people forget until the morning of. The streets climbing south toward Mulholland sit in the Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zone, and the Los Angeles Fire Department runs a Red Flag Restricted Parking program across those areas: when the city declares a Red Flag Day, vehicles parked in posted locations inside the zone are towed, and the Department of Transportation has installed more than 1,700 signs marking the restricted streets. On a declared Red Flag Day the curbside space a crew would normally work from may simply not exist, and a truck parked where a sign says it may not be is not an inconvenience, it is a tow.
The same weather rule reaches into brush work directly. LAFD's brush clearance requirements apply to owners of property in the Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zone and call for clearance within 200 feet of any structure and within 10 feet of any combustible fence, roadway or driveway, with grass cut to three inches and native brush reduced to three inches in height. The department is explicit that brush clearance cannot be done on red flag days. So the pattern we see every fall in the Encino hills is a homeowner who cut on a safe day, stacked the material at the frontage, and now needs it gone before the next declared day — which is a same-day haul with a real deadline attached. If that is your job, say so when you call, because it changes the order we run the day in.
Got a deadline today in Encino? Call before the scales shut and we will tell you straight whether it can be done.

Our own crews on Los Angeles County jobs. The same-day junk removal we run in Encino looks like this too: side yards, narrow walkways and the back of the property is where the work actually is.
A same-day Encino clearance is normally two loads pretending to be one. The first is the ordinary bulk: furniture, mattresses, boxes, lumber, garden structures, appliances, general household. That is the part we can sort, load, weigh and place today, with reusable items pulled out for donation before the tailgate shuts and metal routed to a scrap recycler rather than a gate.
The second is the part that is not legally ordinary trash, and it will not be riding to a landfill whatever the deadline is. Household hazardous waste has its own free, weekend-only destination and its own transport limit: 125 pounds or 15 gallons per visit at a S.A.F.E. center, which is a California state transport limit rather than a city rule. Paint, thinners, cleaners and solvents, automotive fluids and used oil, pool acid and chlorine, pesticides, aerosols, propane cylinders, household batteries, fluorescent tubes and mercury items all belong there. So does electronic waste: in California, televisions, monitors, computers, printers, microwaves, cell phones and household batteries are universal waste and have been banned from the household trash since the state's exemption ended on 9 February 2006. LASAN's own bulky program refuses paints, solvents and chemicals, fluorescent lights, automotive parts and used oil at the curb for the same reason.
Construction debris is the third category and it has a compliance chain of its own. Under the City of Los Angeles Construction and Demolition Waste Recycling Ordinance, mixed C&D debris generated inside the city must be hauled by a permitted private hauler to a city-certified processing facility, with a penalty of up to $5,000 per load taken anywhere else. A demolished patio slab, a stack of broken tile or a torn-out deck from an Encino remodel is that material. It can absolutely go today, but it goes to a certified processor, not to whichever gate is closest to closing.
What that means in practice is simple and we would rather say it before we quote than after we load: if your job contains chemicals, e-waste or demolition debris, we will separate it at the property, tell you which part is going where, and if a weekend-only facility is the honest answer for the chemical fraction, we will say so rather than quietly burying it in a mixed load. The quote is free and there is no obligation, and it is worth more to you accurate than fast. For the whole-property version of this see estate cleanouts in Encino; for the shelf that holds most of the chemicals see garage cleanouts in Encino.

Same rule in Encino as anywhere else in Los Angeles County. The local part is the program above, not the disposal law. Full detail on same-day junk removal.
This page is same-day junk removal in Encino specifically. The wider service is on same-day junk removal across Los Angeles, and everything we haul in this city is on junk removal in Encino. Same crew, different job: furniture removal in Encino, estate cleanouts in Encino, garage cleanouts in Encino. Pricing works the same way everywhere: how our pricing works, and the full map is on areas we serve.

We are already next door most days. The whole list is on areas we serve.
Same crew, same visit, one quoted number agreed before anything is lifted.
Couches, sectionals, mattresses in the same trip, beds, desks and wardrobes carried down rather than dragged.
The whole garage in one visit. We sort, donate what is usable and sweep the slab.
A full property cleared with care, on probate or move-out timelines.
Brush, palm fronds, sod, soil and storm debris, priced by weight.
Fridges, washers and AC units. Refrigerant units are handled as universal waste.
Drywall, lumber, tile and concrete, hauled to a certified C&D processor.
Mostly about deadlines, what the city can and cannot do, and what has to wait for a weekend.
No. The free city collection is genuinely unlimited and genuinely free for a single-family Encino address, but LA Sanitation asks for the request at least one business day ahead and then collects on your regular trash day, curbside. Book it through the online form, the MyLA311 app or 1-800-773-2489 if your deadline allows. If it does not, or if the material is behind a gate rather than on the parkway, that is when a private haul is the only route that actually finishes today.
It depends on the material, not the hour. Sunshine Canyon in Sylmar closes its scales at 5:00 p.m. on weekdays and 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, so a load heading there has to be loaded, tarped and driving with time to spare. Loads that are mostly reusable furniture, metal or green waste have different destinations and different windows. Call, describe what is there, and we will tell you honestly whether today is realistic or whether first thing tomorrow is the better booking.
Because they have their own legal destination and it is closed midweek. Paint, thinners, solvents, pool acid and chlorine, automotive fluids, pesticides, aerosols and propane are household hazardous waste, and the free S.A.F.E. collection centers that accept them run Saturday and Sunday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. with a limit of 125 pounds or 15 gallons per visit, which is a California state transport limit. LA Sanitation refuses the same materials at the curb. We separate them at your property and tell you exactly which part is going where.
Usually yes, but the parking changes everything. The Encino hillside streets sit in the Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zone, and on a declared Red Flag Day vehicles in posted locations there are towed, with more than 1,700 signs installed to mark the restricted streets. We size the vehicle to the street, work from a legal position and shuttle to it rather than parking where a sign says we may not. Tell us the street when you call so the crew arrives with the right truck.
Not always, but somebody has to confirm what is going. For a clearly defined pile in an open driveway, a photo and a phone confirmation is usually enough. For anything inside, behind a gate, in a garage, or where the boundary between what goes and what stays is not obvious, we want a person on site or on the phone at the point we start loading. Every quote is free and given upfront before we lift anything, so there is no version of this where the number moves after the fact.
Our pricing works the same way whatever day you book: by the volume the load actually takes up in the truck, with labor, transport and disposal fees included, quoted upfront and confirmed on site before anything moves. There is no separate urgency charge and no hidden add-on at the tailgate. What genuinely changes a same-day job is the carry distance and whether the load has to be split across more than one destination, and we will point both of those out while we are quoting rather than afterwards.

Collection rules, transfer stations and permit counters change at the city line, so each of these is written for that city rather than for Encino. A job that straddles two of them is still one visit and one number.
