Same-day hauling across Encino, from the deep lots south of Ventura Boulevard to the hillside streets climbing toward Mulholland, quoted flat before we start.

Encino sits inside the City of Los Angeles, so LA Sanitation collects bulky items from an Encino curb free and with no annual cap, on your normal collection day, requested through MyLA311 or 1-800-773-2489. The limits show up fast on an Encino property. The curb can be a hundred feet away past a gate, the work is nearly always in the backyard, and the things that actually need shifting here are spa shells, pool decking, tree limbs and forty years of workshop. A curbside program covers none of that. Los Angeles Junk Removal & Hauling does, at one flat volume-based price.
Encino has some of the deepest residential lots in the San Fernando Valley. South of Ventura Boulevard the frontages widen, the drives gate, and most properties carry a pool, a workshop or a guest house and planting that has been maturing since the 1960s. North of the boulevard the grid tightens into post-war ranch houses and the apartment blocks along Balboa and White Oak.
Those two halves produce two different jobs. In the south it is spa removals, pool-deck teardowns and green waste by the ton. In the north it is garages, appliances and rental turnovers. See hot tub removal, yard waste removal and how our pricing works.
LA Sanitation describes bulky item collection as an unlimited curbside service at no additional charge, and for a single-family Encino address that is exactly what it is. Request it on the online form, through the MyLA311 app, or on the 24-hour Customer Care line at 1-800-773-2489, list the items so a correctly sized truck is dispatched, and put them out for your normal collection day with at least one business day of notice. Furniture, mattresses and box springs, toilets and sinks, rolled and tied carpet, doors and large wood, and e-waste including televisions, computers and monitors all qualify.
The refusals are what catch Encino out, because they map onto exactly what an Encino property holds. No construction materials, no concrete, brick or dirt, no paint, solvents or chemicals, no automotive parts or used oil, no commercial appliances, no medicines or needles, no fluorescent tubes. The stabiliser and shock at the back of the pool equipment cabinet are chemicals. Broken patio slab is construction material. And LASAN's published accepted and prohibited lists name neither spas, hot tubs, pool tables nor safes anywhere, so those are not worth gambling a collection day on.
The other Encino constraint is plain geometry. Collection is curbside, so every item has to be standing on the parkway before the truck arrives. On a gated lot with the pool at the far end of the yard, getting it there is the entire job.

The standard Encino access problem is a narrow side gate between the house and the boundary wall. Everything from the backyard has to pass through it, and on the older streets south of the boulevard that gap is often barely wider than a wheelbarrow. Sectionals, spa shells, sheds and patio covers come apart in the yard and leave in pieces. Where there is genuinely no side route, we lift over the wall.
Pools drive a lot of our Encino work. Spa shells that have to be drained, cut and carried out; pump housings, filters and dead heaters; splintered decking; and the containers of acid and chlorine in the equipment cabinet, which are household hazardous waste and cannot ride with the rest of the load. Deck concrete is dense, so weight rather than volume decides what a truck can legally carry away in one trip.
Then there is green waste, which in Encino is a category of its own. Sixty-year-old ficus, olive, liquidambar and Canary Island palm, plus bougainvillea that has eaten a fence. One palm trim fills more truck than a bedroom does. Up in the Encino hills toward Mulholland and the reservoir the roads narrow to a lane with switchbacks and houses stepped below the road, so we size the vehicle to the street and shuttle rather than block it.

Our own crews on Los Angeles County jobs. The junk removal we run in Encino looks like this too: side yards, narrow walkways and the back of the property is where the work actually is.
Sorting happens before loading. Usable furniture, tools and garden equipment go to donation. Scrap metal, including dead pool heaters and pumps, goes to a recycler. Green waste is composted rather than buried. Mattresses go into California's state-funded mattress recycling program. Electronics have been universal waste in California since the state's exemption ended in February 2006, so they go to a certified handler rather than a bin. Leftover paint goes free to any PaintCare drop-off, of which California has more than 800. Pool chemicals, solvents and motor oil go to a S.A.F.E. Collection Center, and Encino's nearest is the Nicole Bernson center at 10241 N Balboa Blvd in Northridge, straight up Balboa, open Saturdays and Sundays 9 to 3, free, no business waste accepted, subject to the state's 125-pound or 15-gallon per-visit transport limit. Patio and remodel debris is mixed construction and demolition waste, which the City of Los Angeles requires be delivered to a certified processing facility; America's Recycling Company 3 in Sun Valley runs an audited 83.98% mixed-C&D recycling rate and is one of the nearest certified processors to the west Valley.

We are on these streets constantly because we are already next door: Tarzana, Sherman Oaks, Woodland Hills, Van Nuys, Studio City. If your job straddles two of them it is still one visit and one number. The full list is on areas we serve.

We are a service-area business with no yard or storefront, so there is nothing to drive to — the truck comes to you. The whole list is on areas we serve.
Spa shells, pool decks, palm trim, workshops and multi-car garages.
Drained, cut down in sections and carried out through the side gate.
Brush, palm fronds, sod, soil and storm debris, priced by weight.
The whole garage in one visit. We sort, donate what is usable and sweep the slab.
Sheds, playhouses and patio covers dismantled in sequence, slab optional.
A full property cleared with care, on probate or move-out timelines.
Couches, sectionals, mattresses in the same trip, beds, desks and wardrobes carried down rather than dragged.
Gardens, gates and pool equipment, mostly.
Do not count on it. LA Sanitation's published accepted and prohibited lists name neither hot tubs nor spas, and a full shell is not something a two-person crew lifts off a parkway. We drain it, cut it into panels and carry it out through the side gate. See hot tub removal.
That is one of our most common Encino calls. Palm fronds, ficus limbs, hedge cuttings, sod and soil are dense, so they are priced by weight rather than by how tall the pile looks. We load, weigh and route them to composting. See yard waste removal.
Yes. We dismantle in place and carry out in sections, and where there is no route through at all we lift over the wall. Tell us the gate width when you call and the crew arrives with the right kit.
Never the bin and never the curb. Acid, chlorine and stabiliser go to a S.A.F.E. Collection Center, and the Nicole Bernson center on North Balboa in Northridge is closest to Encino, weekends 9 to 3, free, capped at 125 pounds or 15 gallons a visit. If we are clearing the equipment area we separate and route them for you.
Constantly. Those roads are single lane with switchbacks and often no turnaround, so we choose a truck that fits the street and shuttle if we have to. That gets decided on the walk-through, so the flat number does not move on the day.
Word for word from Google. Nothing tidied.
