Same-day hauling right across Sherman Oaks, from the hillside streets above Ventura to the deep lots either side of the 405, quoted before we start.

Sherman Oaks is a City of Los Angeles neighborhood, so LA Sanitation collects bulky items from a Sherman Oaks curb free, with no annual cap, on your normal collection day, booked through MyLA311 or 1-800-773-2489. That covers a sofa on the parkway. It does not cover the two jobs Sherman Oaks actually generates: a whole-house clearance in a home the same family has owned for forty years, and a hillside property above Ventura where the curb is a retaining wall. Los Angeles Junk Removal & Hauling does both, working room by room, at one flat volume-based price.
Sherman Oaks is cut by two freeways and reads differently in each quarter. Above Ventura Boulevard the streets climb into the hills toward Mulholland with gated drives and pools. Below it, the flats run out to Burbank Boulevard in wide post-war blocks with deep gardens and detached garages. The 405 slices through the middle, and the 101 caps the south, so a job two miles away can be twenty minutes away.
The single most common Sherman Oaks call is the long-tenure house: an owner of thirty or forty years downsizing or an estate being settled, with a garage, an attic and a full house to work through. See estate cleanouts, garage cleanouts and how our pricing works.
Use the city service when it fits, and for a single item on a Sherman Oaks parkway it fits well. LA Sanitation describes bulky item collection as an unlimited curbside service at no additional charge. Book it on the online form, through the MyLA311 app, or on the 24-hour Customer Care line at 1-800-773-2489, list the items so the right truck is sent, and put them out for your regular collection day with at least one business day of notice. Furniture, mattresses and box springs, rolled and tied carpet, toilets, sinks, doors, large wood and e-waste including televisions and monitors are accepted.
Where it fails in Sherman Oaks is scale and location. A forty-year house does not produce one item, it produces a garage, an attic, a shed and forty boxes, and every one of them has to be standing on the parkway before the truck arrives. Doing that yourself, over several collection days, is the entire job. Above Ventura it fails for a different reason: gated drives, no parkway, and streets where a staged pile is a hazard.
The exclusions matter here too. Pool and spa chemicals from the equipment cabinet are household hazardous waste. Paint and solvents from a garage shelf are refused. Old fencing, patio slab and remodel debris are construction materials. And LASAN's published accepted and prohibited lists name neither spas, hot tubs, pool tables nor safes anywhere, which is worth knowing before you gamble a collection day on one.

An estate or downsize clearance in the Sherman Oaks flats is a sorting job before it is a hauling job. We work room by room, keep what the family wants kept, route usable furniture, tools and kitchenware to donation, and load the rest. Detached garages here are often original to the house and hold decades of paint cans, garden chemicals, tires and cutoffs, and several of those categories cannot legally ride with the rest of the load, so they get separated on site.
Above Ventura the constraints change. Drives gate, side yards narrow to a gap barely wider than a wheelbarrow, and the garden is where the work is: spa shells, pool decking, patio covers and mature planting. Sectionals, sheds and spas come apart in place and leave in sections, and where there is no side route at all we lift over the wall.
The freeways are a scheduling fact rather than an access one. Sherman Oaks straddles the 405 and the 101, and the crossings back up hard at peak, so we plan the route and the return trip around them instead of quoting you an arrival window we cannot keep. See furniture removal and appliance removal.

Our own crews on Los Angeles County jobs. The junk removal we run in Sherman Oaks looks like this too: side yards, narrow walkways and the back of the property is where the work actually is.
Donation first, because a long-tenure house is full of things that still work. Furniture, tools, garden equipment, kitchenware and books go to reuse. Scrap metal and dead appliances go to a recycler. Green waste is composted rather than buried. Mattresses go into California's state-funded recycling program, funded by a fee that rose to $18.00 per unit on April 1, 2026 and charged at purchase rather than at collection. Electronics have been universal waste in California since the state's exemption ended in February 2006, so televisions, monitors and computers go to a certified handler. Paint goes free to any PaintCare drop-off. Garage chemicals, pool acid and chlorine, solvents and motor oil go to a S.A.F.E. Collection Center: Sherman Oaks is served by Randall Street, 11025 Randall St, Sun Valley, and the Nicole Bernson center at 10241 N Balboa Blvd, Northridge, both weekends 9 to 3, free, capped by California at 125 pounds or 15 gallons per visit. Patio and remodel debris is mixed construction and demolition waste and must go to a City-certified processor.

We are on these streets constantly because we are already next door: Studio City, Valley Village, Van Nuys, Encino, North Hollywood. If your job straddles two of them it is still one visit and one number. The full list is on areas we serve.

We are a service-area business with no yard or storefront, so there is nothing to drive to — the truck comes to you. The whole list is on areas we serve.
Whole-house clearances, original garages, spas, patios and mature gardens.
A full property cleared with care, on probate or move-out timelines.
The whole garage in one visit. We sort, donate what is usable and sweep the slab.
Couches, sectionals, mattresses in the same trip, beds, desks and wardrobes carried down rather than dragged.
Fridges, washers and AC units. Refrigerant units are handled as universal waste.
Drained, cut down in sections and carried out through the side gate.
Brush, palm fronds, sod, soil and storm debris, priced by weight.
Downsizes, garages and hillside access, mostly.
With a walk-through of every room, the garage and the attic, so you get one flat volume-based number before anything moves. Then we work room by room, set aside anything the family wants kept, route the usable items to donation and load the rest. See estate cleanouts.
In theory the service is unlimited, but every item has to be standing on the parkway before the truck arrives, on your normal collection day. For a whole house that carrying and staging is the actual work, and paint, chemicals, tires and construction materials are refused outright.
They get separated on site and routed to a S.A.F.E. Collection Center rather than going with the load. Randall Street in Sun Valley and Nicole Bernson in Northridge both serve Sherman Oaks, weekends 9 to 3, free, capped at 125 pounds or 15 gallons a visit. Paint can also go free to any PaintCare drop-off.
Do not count on it. LA Sanitation's published accepted and prohibited lists name neither hot tubs nor spas, and a full shell is not something anyone lifts off a parkway. We drain it, cut it into panels and carry it out through the side yard. See hot tub removal.
It affects the plan, not the price. Sherman Oaks sits across the 405 and under the 101, so we build the route and any return trip around the crossings rather than promising a window we cannot keep.
Word for word from Google. Nothing tidied.
