Working with Hunter and this company was great. Gave us a quick quote over the phone after sending photos and was able to help us the SAME day. Removal was fast and easy. We definitely recommend going with this company.
Refrigerators, freezers, washers, dryers, dishwashers, ovens, water heaters and air conditioning units taken out of Venice homes, apartments and converted garages, and routed for metal recovery.

Venice sits inside the City of Los Angeles, so household appliances go free at the curb, but LA Sanitation refuses commercial appliances, which catches converted garages and the small businesses along Abbot Kinney. Appliance removal here disconnects the unit, keeps any sealed refrigeration circuit intact for recovery, and sends the metal for scrap.
Venice is inside the City of Los Angeles, so a household appliance can go free at the curb: LA Sanitation's bulky item collection is unlimited, has no annual cap for single-family addresses, and is booked at least one business day ahead through the online form, the MyLA311 app or 1-800-773-2489. Two exclusions matter. Commercial appliances are refused by that program, which catches converted garages, home kitchens built around commercial equipment and small businesses along Abbot Kinney and Lincoln. And anything with a sealed refrigeration circuit — refrigerator, freezer, window or split air conditioner, dehumidifier, wine cooler — has to have that circuit properly recovered before the shell can be processed as scrap steel, which is why white goods are handled separately everywhere. Los Angeles Junk Removal & Hauling disconnects, carries and routes them for metal recovery, on a free upfront quote with no obligation.
An appliance is the item where the building fights back hardest. It is heavy, it is rigid, it has a water line or a gas line or both attached to it, and in Venice it is usually standing in a kitchen that is up a stair, behind a gate, or in a garage that has become a laundry room with a doorway two inches narrower than the machine.
This page covers what happens to an appliance here: what the free city route will and will not take, what has to be dealt with before scrap, and how the metal is actually recovered. The general local picture is on junk removal in Venice, and our county-wide service is on appliance removal.
LA Sanitation's bulky item pickup covers household appliances and it costs nothing. LASAN describes it as an unlimited curbside service at no additional charge with no per-item or per-year cap for single-family residents, requested through the online service request form, the MyLA311 app or the 24-hour Customer Care Center on 1-800-773-2489, at least one business day before your regular collection day, with an itemized list so the right sized truck is dispatched. Large e-waste such as televisions, computers and monitors rides the same request.
The exclusion that catches Venice specifically is commercial appliances, which LASAN names on its prohibited list. That is not an abstract distinction in a neighborhood with this much live-work space, this many converted garages and this much small food business along Abbot Kinney, Rose and Lincoln. A domestic fridge from an apartment is one thing. A two-door commercial refrigerator out of a cafe, a commercial dishwasher, a walk-in compressor or a restaurant range is another, and it is not going to be collected at a Venice curb by the city truck.
The other exclusions on the same list shape an appliance job in practice: automotive parts and used oil are refused, paints, solvents and chemicals are refused, fluorescent lights are refused, and construction materials, concrete, brick and dirt are refused. A kitchen or laundry removal that involves cutting out cabinetry or tiling immediately produces material the free route will not touch, and in the City of Los Angeles mixed construction and demolition debris has its own compliance chain: it must be hauled by a permitted private hauler to a city-certified processing facility, with a penalty of up to $5,000 per load taken anywhere else.
Then there is the practical line the city itself draws: the collection is curbside. The truck expects the appliance to be standing on the parkway on your regular trash day. Everything between the kitchen and the parkway — the stair, the alley gate, the walkway, the shared courtyard — is somebody's carry, and on most Venice properties that carry is the whole job.

Appliance work starts with the connections. A washer has a supply pair and a drain that need closing and draining without soaking the floor. A dishwasher is plumbed and usually hard-wired under a worktop. A gas range or gas dryer has a shutoff that must be closed and capped properly, and where a gas connection looks perished or has been modified, the right sequence is a licensed plumber first and a truck second — we will say that on site rather than pull on it. A water heater is still full until it is drained, and a full tank is a flood rather than a lift.
Then the route out, which in Venice is rarely straightforward. Narrow-lot houses stack living space vertically, so the kitchen is often not on the ground floor. Older stock puts a single interior stair between the machine and the door. Converted garages and rear studios frequently have a laundry squeezed into a space that was framed after the appliance arrived, with a doorway narrower than the machine. Doors come off, hinges come off, sometimes trim comes off, and the floors and jambs are protected before anything moves rather than apologized for afterwards.
Access to the property is the second half. Where the working frontage is an alley, we size the vehicle to the alley. Where the address is on a walkway or a canal block and no vehicle can reach it, the truck stands legally and the crew carries. An appliance is the worst possible item for a long carry — heavy, rigid, no good handholds — so those jobs are planned with the right number of people rather than improvised with two.
Managed buildings add the usual layer, and it is worth arranging up front: a certificate of insurance on file, a service entrance rather than the lobby, and an elevator or loading window where one exists. A new appliance delivery is often booked into the same window, which is the ideal arrangement — the old unit leaves as the new one arrives, and nothing sits in a corridor overnight blocking a fire door. If the kitchen is being stripped rather than just re-equipped, see garage cleanouts in Venice for the storage side and estate cleanouts in Venice for a whole property.
Tell us the appliance, the floor and whether it holds refrigerant. The quote is free and given upfront.

Our own crews on Los Angeles County jobs. The appliance removal we run in Venice looks like this too: side yards, narrow walkways and the back of the property is where the work actually is.
Anything with a sealed refrigeration circuit contains refrigerant and compressor oil, and that has to be recovered by someone equipped to do it before the shell can be processed as scrap steel. Refrigerators, freezers, window and split air conditioning units, dehumidifiers and wine coolers are all in that category. It is the single reason white goods are handled separately from furniture in every city we work in, and it is why we route those units to a recycler set up for recovery rather than to whichever disposal gate is closest.
Once the circuit is dealt with, an appliance is mostly steel, and steel is worth recovering. Washers, dryers, ovens, ranges, dishwashers, water heaters and the shells of refrigeration units go to a scrap recycler. That is a better outcome than a landfill and usually a better outcome on the quote too, which is why we separate metal from mixed waste at the property rather than compacting it all into one load.
Electronics are governed by state law rather than preference. Televisions, monitors, computers, printers, microwaves, cell phones and household batteries are universal waste in California, banned from the household trash since the state's exemption ended on 9 February 2006. A microwave is the one people are most often surprised by, because it looks like an appliance and is legally e-waste. Those are separated and routed to a certified handler, or taken to a S.A.F.E. center, which accepts e-waste free to City and County residents within the 125 pound or 15 gallon per-visit limit, Saturdays and Sundays 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The nearest to Venice is Hyperion at 7660 West Imperial Highway Gate B in Playa del Rey.
The last category is what was standing next to the appliance, and in a Venice laundry or garage it is usually chemical: detergents and solvents, a can of paint, automotive fluids, a propane cylinder for a patio heater, a box of dead batteries. LASAN refuses all of it at the curb, and it belongs at a S.A.F.E. center or, for architectural paint, at a free PaintCare drop-off point funded by the recovery fee already paid at purchase. We separate it at your address and tell you exactly what is going where before anything is loaded.

Same rule in Venice as anywhere else in Los Angeles County. The local part is the program above, not the disposal law. Full detail on appliance removal.
This page is appliance removal in Venice specifically. The wider service is on appliance removal across Los Angeles, and everything we haul in this city is on junk removal in Venice. Same crew, different job: Garage cleanouts in Venice, Mattress removal in Venice, Estate cleanouts in Venice. Pricing works the same way everywhere: how our pricing works, and the full map is on areas we serve.

We are already next door most days. The whole list is on areas we serve.
Disconnected, carried and separated in one visit, on one quoted number.
TVs, CRT monitors and computers. Banned from the trash in California.
Couches, sectionals, mattresses in the same trip, beds, desks and wardrobes carried down rather than dragged.
The whole garage in one visit. We sort, donate what is usable and sweep the slab.
Drywall, lumber, tile and concrete, hauled to a certified C&D processor.
COIs, after-hours dock slots and property-manager invoicing.
Booked and cleared the same day, most days, across LA County.
Refrigerant, commercial units, narrow doorways and the free city route.
A household one, yes. LA Sanitation's bulky item pickup is free and unlimited for single-family Venice addresses and it covers household appliances, booked at least one business day ahead on 1-800-773-2489 or through MyLA311. It is a curbside collection, so the unit has to be standing on the parkway on your trash day. Commercial appliances are specifically refused, and if the fridge is upstairs or behind a gate the carry is not part of the free service.
Because of the sealed refrigeration circuit. Refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, dehumidifiers and wine coolers contain refrigerant and compressor oil that must be recovered by someone equipped to do it before the metal can be processed as scrap. Crushing a charged unit vents it, which is exactly what the rules exist to prevent. We route those units to a recycler set up for recovery and tell you that is what is happening when we quote.
Yes, and that is a job the city route cannot help with at all, because commercial appliances are on LASAN's prohibited list. Commercial units are heavier, often built into a space rather than rolled into it, and the refrigeration side still needs proper handling. Tell us the model and how it was installed when you call, and whether the work has to happen outside trading hours.
That is common in Venice conversions where the laundry was framed after the machine went in. Doors come off, hinges come off, and sometimes a piece of trim comes off and goes back on. Floors and jambs are protected before anything moves. If the only route out is genuinely blocked by structure, we will tell you that on the quote rather than damaging the opening to prove a point.
Yes. Microwaves are named in California's universal waste category alongside televisions, monitors, computers, printers, cell phones and batteries, all banned from household trash since the state's exemption ended in February 2006. It surprises people because it sits on a worktop and looks like an appliance. We separate it and route it to a certified handler, or to a S.A.F.E. center, which takes e-waste free at weekends.
Yes, and in a managed building that is the tidiest arrangement, because nothing sits in a corridor overnight. We will get a certificate of insurance on file with the manager, agree a service entrance and an access window, and time our visit to the delivery. Give us the delivery slot when you book and we will work to it.
Word for word from Google. Nothing tidied.
